3 DAYS OF GORILLA TREKKING
DAY 1: KAMPALA – BWINDI NATIONAL PARK
The company driver picks you up from your hotel and drives to Bwindi impenetrable National Park. This is a long drive of approximately 8 hours with a lunch stopover en route. Even though the drive is long, you’ll go through different landscapes including tropical rain forests, savannah fields, and the terraced hills of Kigezi, famously known as the Switzerland of East Africa. Arrival is late in the evening for relaxation, dinner, and overnight at Gorilla Mist Camp.
DAY 2: GORILLA TREKKING
After early morning breakfast, and with your picnic lunch we then take a short drive to the park offices for a briefing where we meet the excellent local guides and trackers who give a talk on the etiquette of gorilla trekking. We then hike into the forest to a spot where gorillas were seen the previous night and track from there. The terrain is rough and muddy calling for physical fitness. Although the hike is physically demanding, the beauty of the forest and surrounding scenery make the trekking worthwhile. It is recommended that you take plenty of water with you on the trek. Cameras and plenty of fast-speed films are recommended. Being a tropical rain forest, it may rain at no notice, hence need to bring with you waterproof clothing, including zip lock bags for cameras and film. Others to come with include; sturdy hiking boots, long pants, gloves, and a raincoat. The maximum time spent with the gorillas is 1 hour
DAY 3: BWINDI- KAMPALA
After breakfast, start on the long drive back to Entebbe / Kampala with the memory of the great rare mountain apes. Lunch en route and a stopover at the equator line and Igongo cultural center, arriving late in the evening at Entebbe International airport.
